What is YoungLives?

Why We Do This

Teen pregnancy and childbearing have substantial social and economic impacts for communities. There are approximately 70 pregnancies per 1,000 females aged 15-19 and around 40 births per 1,000 females in this age group. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, teen pregnancy accounts for more than $9 billion in costs to U.S. taxpayers and significantly contributes to high school drop out rates among females. The pregnancy, birth, sexually transmitted disease, and abortion rates are substantially higher among teenagers in the U.S. compared to other western industrialized nations.

Club is a time of fun and laughter. Girls make new friends and experience support in being a mom. They also find food, activities, music, childcare and a message about real life.
